The New Adventure People Kickstarter

Adventure People: Small in Size, Big on Adventure!

ZICA Toys just launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new line of 4" action figures, "Adventure People."  The Adventure People are modern style action figures, but using retro characters and branding from vintage toys. 

The figures will have multiple points of articulation, various accessories, and swappable sets of hands and heads.  ZICA Toys worked with Boss Fight Studios to design these figures, so they use a similar type of body as Boss Fight's Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. figures, and the Marauder Gun Runners Marauder Task Force figures.  So if you are a fan of those figures, you should definitely check these ones out, too, as they ought to fit in really nicely with those.

The initial assortment of figures will consist of 4 figures in 2 series.  The first series is "Captain Action" featuring the character who was originally launched by Ideal Toys as a 12" figure in 1966.  Joining Captain Action in this series is a new character in the Captain Action universe, "Captain Evil," who is an evil, blue-skinned clone of Captain Action, reminiscent of He-Man's blue-skinned duplicate Faker from the original Masters of the Universe toys.

The second series is "Comic Action Heroes."  This series features two characters who were vintage 8" Mego figures in the 1970s: Action Jackson and Jet Jungle.  Action Jackson was a military and adventure figure that was Mego's answer to G.I. Joe in 1971.  Jet Jungle was a South African Superhero that was sort of a cross between Tarzan, Superman, and Doc Savage, and was created as the spokesman for "Jungle Oats."  Mego released a Jet Jungle figure in South Africa in 1974.  Jet Jungle is one of the rarest of Mego figures, because he was only sold in South Africa.  In fact, there is only one known example of this figure in it's original box, and according to Wikipedia it was sold to a private collector "at the staggering price of $20,000."

The figures will be available individually, so if you're just a big Captain Action fan, but not in to Mego, for instance, you could just get the figures you want.  But if you do order the set of 4, each figure will come with a bonus electronic rifle accessory.

In addition to it's use of vintage toy characters, this line is also resurrecting several toy brand trademarks from the past.  "Adventure People" was originally used by Fisher-Price for their line of 3 3/4" action figures in the 1970s and '80s.  "Comic Action Heroes" was originally used by Mego for their line of 4 inch superhero figures in the 1970s.  ZICA is also bringing back the name "Remco" as a division of ZICA Toys.  Remco was a toy company that operated from the 1950s through the 1990s, and produced numerous toys and action figures during that time.
